Sunscreen every day: skincare step no. 1, explained simply
Should you wear sunscreen every day?
Why it is the most important step
UV rays are one of the main causes of visible skin aging and dark spots. No serum replaces sunscreen. That is why it is part of every Shadewise program.
Choosing well
- Broad spectrum (UVA and UVB).
- SPF 30 or higher.
- A texture you love, or you won’t wear it: fluid for oily skin, cream for dry skin, mineral for sensitive skin, invisible or tinted for deeper skin tones.
Applying well
| When | How |
|---|---|
| Every morning | As the last step, after your moisturizer |
| Amount | About two finger-lengths for face and neck |
| Often forgotten | Ears, neck, hairline |
| Outdoors | Reapply about every 2 hours |
| After water or sport | Reapply |
Removing it at night
Sunscreen is made to last: water alone is not enough. Double cleansing works well: an oil or balm on dry skin, a little water to emulsify, rinse, then your gentle cleanser.
Beyond the cream
A hat, sunglasses, shade during the hottest hours: these habits complete your sunscreen.
In Shadewise
Sunscreen is part of every program, with a reminder if you want one. “Do my routine” offers it as the last morning step, with the right technique. This is cosmetic advice, never a diagnosis.
Frequently asked questions
Is the SPF in my foundation enough?
Rarely: you apply far less of it than sunscreen, so the real protection is lower. A proper sunscreen remains the basic step.
Mineral or chemical filters?
Both protect. Mineral filters (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) are often better tolerated by sensitive skin. The best sunscreen is the one you enjoy wearing every day.
What about deeper skin tones?
Sunscreen is recommended for every skin tone. Invisible or tinted textures avoid a white cast.
How do I remove sunscreen at night?
A cleansing oil or balm, then your usual cleanser: that is double cleansing.
